So I have never made a peasant top! I know, so simple, so cute, why not?
Well finally, I tried it. I wanted to use not so special fabric to experiment with,
so this is WAY cheap stuff from my favorite fabric store, Walmart....
Experiment 1:
See anything wrong?
I do...
I wasn't really paying attention and my little girl was "helping" me sew, so this is the result.
the neck line has the ugly serger stuff on the outside. I was going to cover it up with a cute little ruffle,
but then I remembered that this was a total experiment and the fabric is just not worth the time.
But really those are just all excuses, I am just lazy.
Experiment 2:
This is that crazy fun fabric with the sparkles. I don't know why I didn't try this before!
Peasant dresses and tops are SO EASY!
I am trying to figure out the technical part of putting a pattern online, so this could be my first printable pattern!
Just wait I should be able to get it figured out sometime soon!
I added a ruffle on the bottom for fun. I was going to add the ruffle down the center in the front, but I didn't cut the pink long enough. Oh well.
Ruffles and gathers? What more can you ask for?
Now I just have to wait until she wakes up from her nap to try it on.

Come on - wake her up! That is so cute!
What fun fabric you chose! I think trial and error is often the best way to teach yourself something new...looks like it paid off for you!
Hi! I found you while wandering....
I agree with Megan in the fact that our mistakes always teach us a better way in what we are doing.
Your second top is great and I think the extra ruffle at the bottom really makes it look like you got it from a store then made it. Well done!
