0o0o0o, those words together give me chills!
Lately, I have been slightly obsessed with leather.
I have made a couple accessories from leather
and I am taken by it.
I got a chain, my is 28" long,
and a 2 yard piece of sueded leather cording.
This project is so simple, but designers sell it for huge amounts of money!
Why buy when you can DIY, right?
I'm getting off subject,
start weaving,
over, under, over, under....
Hint:
Once you have gone through 2 or 3 links pull the leather cording through.
Make sure it is more than enough to weave the rest of the chain.
It's really hard to pull the cord through, once most of the chain is woven.
All done, with the weaving.
Like I said, my chain is 28" long,
I think it is just a tad too long. I would probably make it 25".
Let's Finish!!
Cut off the excess cording, leaving about 1 1/2"-2".
Fold the excess leather back, like pictured.
Get your needle, threaded with upholstery thread, or hand quilting thread.
(You really just need something that will hold)
Take your needle and start wrapping it around the 2 pieces of cording.
I'm not sure how to explain how I started wrapping, but the above picture does a nice job.
See how the needle goes through the 2 threads?
That's what I mean....
I wrapped it around about 5 times.
Then tied off.
Cut off the excess leather, and there you have it.
Add some large jump rings, and clasp of your choice.
A necklace or bracelet.
If you wanted to make it long enough you could also use it as a belt!
Have fun with it!
I know I love wearing it!
