I got these white tights from the dollar store.
Now it is getting WAY too hot to wear tights, not that I ever do,
but I like my daughter to wear them to church. But with it being so hot I feel bad, so I decided a refashion was in order!
Chopped of 5",
depending on the size of the person you are making them for you might need to chop of more.
This was for a 2T approximately.
This step isn't necessary, I just serged the ends of the tights.
Gathered my ruffles. I cut a piece about 5" then sewed a tube.
I didn't want raw edges, for this project.
Then sewed them on.
While sewing stretch the tights just a little bit, so that they can still stretch.
(sew near the edge of the tights, so no hem can be seen)
I stretch one leg more than the other.
Can you tell which one??
I know you can see her diaper, she didn't want to put something else on. Oh well!
This dress is a peasant dress as well. I have the pattern all scanned and ready to go, except
I didn't like the sleeve pattern, so I just made another one this morning. This is the result.
Do you want this pattern??

Its a sweet pattern, I would love to have a copy, would you consider sending it all the way to Ozzie?...thanks Di
I have a few pairs of tights that NEVER get worn because I don't do dresses in the winter and my little one just started crawling - these would be perfect! And I like the top also.
FYI - found you at Wardrobe Refashion
This is an absolutely fabulous idea!! I have a question for you, what did you make the ruffle from? Is that from the feet you cut off the bottom of the tights or something else?
I'd also love to see the pattern for the dress!
:-)
If one does not have a serger, would you just do a round hem? Or just a zigzag stitch to keep from fraying?
Yikes! Making ruffles the first time is no easy task!! I will have to try another pair now that I have one that turned out ok.
Aww what a cutie! She really didn't want to have her picture taken did she lol...
Love those ruffles, what did you make them out of? Another pair of tights?

Love the idea, did you use cotton or nylon tights. Also what did you make the ruffle from. My girlies love what we call "leggies" and this is the perfect summer solution!
