I love J.Crew they have such great stuff that just begs to be copied.
Take this dress for example.
A shirt with some little extra stuff.
So I got a shirt, this is a "Layers" shirt given to me by my sister.
It was actually for my niece, but she doesn't like close fitting clothes.
I took an old shirt and cut into into about 2" stripes.
The started to sew. Really tough.
Actually really easy. Sew them right sides together.
That's it.
I added a little belt from another dress, because I think it's cute!
It's a little big, but I am not too worried. She is always growing.
I love it. Another simple, really cute refashion!
I have had lots of questions about this dress,
which I try to answer in another post.

OMG. I love it. I am so going to make one.
VERY cute!!!!!
That's awesome. Very inspiring indeed......
Adorable! I think yours is considerably cuter than the original. And now I've got all kinds of ideas of my own--thanks for the inspiration!
:-)

adorable! when you say 'sew them right sides together' do you mean sew the strips to the 'dress' right sides together? are the strips doubled over? Can you see the top of the strips below the next strip? sorry, a lot of questions but I really like it.
This is beautiful! I just love it! I have a question--have you tried washing it yet? How did it turn out? Will it need special treatment to keep it looking good? Eg, ironing every row? I am imagining them all rolling up or something. I would love to do this one so I hope you can let us know. Thanks so much.
This is SO pretty! I bet she loves this dress.
beautiful idea! it's so nice
This is so cute. I love the belt. It makes the dress complete.
I love this! It really is so much cuter than the original. I love it as a dress although I think it would make a great top as well. Thank you for sharing!
Fabulous!! So freaking cute!
WOW! That's a winner. Super stylish and oh so cute.
This is so cute and looks expensive too, good work!
If we all just have imagintion we can make thing that cost nothing. I love your ideas. I need to get busy sewing for my granddaughter!
So very cute, I might have to copy it for my 22-yo DD! This dress is not big on your DD, just long. With the way kids grow, who knows if it will get tighter or looser as she gets older?!
